Newly crowned Miss America 2011, 17-year-old Teresa Scanlan from Gerig, Nebraska, has made history by becoming the youngest winner of the coveted pageant since it began in 1921.

She will receive a a $50,000 scholarship to the institution of her choice and will enjoy the title of Miss America for one year. The Miss America organization is the world’s leading provider of scholarship for young women.
