Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Ali Cavanaugh is known for her child figure and portrait paintings that are accompanied by hand-cut explanatory text. She showed early art talent and was painting commissioned portraits by age 14. She attended the Parsons School of Design, and in 1995, earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Kendall College of Art and Design.
